4-H Alberta Receives $1,000 Donation from AIR-serv Canada

AIR-serv Canada Inc. has donated $1,000 to the 4-H Alberta Legacy Fund. 4-H Alberta was selected by UFA Co-operative Limited as the charity of choice in their AIR-serv Tire Inflator Air for Charity Program.

4-H Alberta Legacy Builder UFA Cooperative Limited has recently signed a new compressed air agreement with AIR-Serv for more than 25 Petroleum locations across the province. UFA will donate 100% of their proceeds generated from this program.  UFA hopes to increase this donation once the program is fully installed.

When you visit a UFA Petroleum site, be sure to fill up and donate to 4-H in the process.

Peavey Mart hosts 4-H and Appreciation Day - April 12, 2014

Peavey Mart will host its Customer Appreciation event on Saturday, April 12, 2014.  Be sure to keep an eye out for local 4-H clubs assisting in the day!
 
The theme of this event is “Appreciation” for Peavey Mart customers, but it is also an opportunity for Peavey Mart to provide a variety of great offers and outstanding deals to their clients.

As part of the event, Peavey Mart will be hosting an appreciation barbecue for their customers. The barbecue will be a by donation only, with all proceeds directly benefitting the local 4-H clubs participating! 
 

Congratulations to Erica Bexte, Recipient of the 2013 UFA 4-H Alumni Volunteer Service Award!

In conjunction with National Volunteer Week, UFA Co-operative Limited and 4-H Alberta are pleased to recognize the 2013 recipient of the UFA 4-H Alumni Volunteer Service Award at the UFA Farm & Ranch Supply store in Vulcan, Alberta. 

 

Congratulations to 2013’s recipient, Erica Bexte! Erica was presented with a UFA 4-H Alumni Service Award certificate and received a $2,000 UFA gift certificate in recognition of demonstrating leadership through community involvement and volunteer work.  

 

Erica was recognized at the Vulcan UFA location on Monday, April 7, for her outstanding contributions to the advancement of her local community and her continued commitment to the 4-H Alberta program.

 

This presentation was fitting, as National Volunteer Week works to pay tribute to the millions of Canadian volunteers who generously donate their time and talents to our communities and local nonprofit organizations. Today’s young volunteers are involved and committed to their choice causes more than ever before, and Erica Bexte is a shining example of this promising trend.

Alberta Beef Producers Young Gun Contest is Now Open!

If you are between the ages of eight and 21, and are involved in Beef 4-H, junior cattle shows or beef production – this is your opportunity to win one of three prizes in the Young Guns Contest. Show us how you advocate on behalf of the beef industry. We want to know what you see as the biggest challenge going forward for beef producers in Alberta and how to overcome it as an industry. An entry may be submitted as an essay, YouTube video, radio advertisement, social media campaign, poster, cartoon, press release or any other form of communication tool.

Be creative. Three prizes are available:

• 1st Place - $1,000
• 2nd Place - $500
• 3rd Place - $250

Cheer on 4-H Alberta at the Cassie Campbell Street Hockey Festival

PennWest proudly presents the annual Cassie Campbell Street Hockey Festival which features two single day tournaments on May 2 and 3rd at the Olympic Oval in Calgary. The adult tournament runs Friday and the youth tournament on the Saturday.

PennWest has graciously sponsored a 4-H youth team to compete in the tournament on the Saturday May 3, 2014. 4-H Alberta’s Atom youth team will be hitting the street and representing the 4-H logo as they play for the win. Come cheer them on and support the Ronald McDonald House for what looks to be a fun filled day!

The purpose of this event is to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House in Southern Alberta as well as provide an opportunity for all to enjoy a fun day filled with street hockey and other festivities.

UFA Co-operative Club Support Package Now Available!

As of April 1, 2014, the UFA 4-H Achievement Day Sponsor Support Packages are available at UFA Co-operative Limited store and agency locations for 4-H Alberta clubs to pick up.  Please ensure you make arrangements to pick up your package the location your club specified on the funding application form submitted to the 4-H Foundation of Alberta.

Each year, UFA provides direct financial funding and a UFA gift certificate to help support all 4-H Alberta Achievement Days.  Your Achievement Day marks the end of the 4-H year and is a way to celebrate and showcase the learning to do by doing, hard work, and accomplishment of your members.

The deadline to pick up the UFA 4-H Achievement Day Sponsor Support Packages is April 28, 2014.
